Accor, a hotel group with more than 5,200 properties and 10,000 dining places in 110 countries, today joins the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, a global organization that brings together committed hotel companies and uses the collective power of the industry to raise and address the key challenges affecting the planet and its inhabitants.

Since its creation in 1967, Accor has been a pioneer in developing sustainable travel experiences and investing in innovations to enable a positive hospitality experience with a reduced environmental impact. As part of its permanent CSR strategy, in 2011 the Group identified 21 areas of activity in which significant improvements could be made and defined action policies and measurable objectives. These include targets for reducing energy and water consumption, a move towards carbon neutral buildings and the promotion of healthier and more sustainable food with a drastic reduction in food waste.

The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance leads collaborative actions and develops free hands-on resources and programs to empower the entire industry with leading hospitality companies and strategic partners to operate responsibly and grow sustainably . They innovate and seek new areas for improvement. Also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), they are committed to leading ongoing actions on a range of social and environmental issues, including human rights, youth employment, action climate and water management.

Alliance members represent 25% of the global hotel industry in terms of rooms and include 14 world-class hotel companies including Hilton, Hyatt, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International and Radisson Hotel Group. Members are united in the belief that collaboration within industry can be more beneficial for societies and the environment, as companies work together and use their collective power on issues such as improving standards of labor. supply chain and climate change mitigation.
