Hamad International Airport opens second transit hotel

The Oryx Garden Hotel, the second hotel at Hamad International Airport (HIA), has opened.

Located in North Plaza, the Oryx Garden Hotel is one of many new experiences that are part of HIA’s airport expansion project, which is set to launch in time for the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022.

The airport expansion project significantly expands HIA’s facilities, which will include more than 90 brands in an expansive shopping area, a world-class art collection and a 10,000 m² indoor tropical garden with a performance hall. water of 268 m².

Comprised of 100 rooms ranging from king to twin, as well as suites, the Oryx Garden Hotel offers its guests complementary next-generation WIFI throughout the property and can be booked 24 hours a day for a maximum of 24 hours.

All rooms are located in the terminal, minutes from the boarding gates.

Guests of the Oryx Garden Hotel will be able to take advantage of the Oryx Airport Hotel’s Vitality Health and Fitness Center, located in the airport’s South Square, close to the iconic Lamp Bear art installation. The center has a 25 meter swimming pool, gym, spa and squash court that passengers can use during their transfer. To reach the Oryx Airport Hotel, you can use the passenger train connecting the north and south squares of the airport.

HIA’s two airport hotels have implemented various green initiatives as part of their ongoing efforts to achieve 100% eco-friendly operations. Hotels will not use plastic water bottles and will instead use eco-friendly water containers.

Other green initiatives include adopting recycled paper for all hotel print media and operations, and replacing plastic bags with biodegradable ones.

For hotel room amenities, plastic cotton swabs have been replaced with bamboo cotton swabs packed in cardboard boxes, plastic coffee cups have been replaced with recyclable paper cups, and lids plastic have been replaced with plant-derived polylactic acid (PLA) lids.

Plastic bottles for shampoos and body lotions have also been replaced with biodegradable EcoPure PET bottles.

Plastic dental and shaving kits were replaced with starch toothbrushes and shaving utensils, while plastic slippers, combs and shower caps were available in eco-friendly forms.

HIA’s expansion is expected to increase capacity to over 58 million passengers and will continue after the FIFA World Cup with a second expansion project which is expected to bring capacity to over 60 million passengers.
