Located in South San Diego on beautiful Coronado Island, Hotel del Coronado is both a luxury resort and a haunted hotel! Its island location makes it unique in the Southern California town, and San Diego residents recognize all of its beautiful buildings and the famous ghost story that goes with it.
In these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list at a later date.
Perhaps San Diego’s most famous hotel, Hotel del Coronado is known for its unique red roofs, proximity to the Coronado Bridge, and famous Haunted Room.
The iconic hotel, affectionately dubbed by locals “The Hotel Del” or simply “The Del”, is filled with supernatural lore stemming from its resident spirit.
In 1892, 24-year-old Kate Morgan checks into a hotel hoping to meet her lover. She was alone and became more and more unhappy because the man did not arrive. After five days, she committed suicide.
Guests still smell her throughout the hotel, and sightings of her ghost are frequently reported. Her presence would be palpable, especially in the room where she was staying. Guests felt his face close to theirs, saw flickering lights and objects moving on their own, heard footsteps, and saw objects fall in the gift shop. When they fall, they are always upright and never broken!
If you want to stay in Kate’s room and experience these haunting events yourself, be sure to book well in advance – it’s the most requested room in the entire hotel!
If you want to take a break from the paranormal activity, just step outside!
The beautiful beach will be the only thing you see from one of the lounge chairs or cabanas. The tranquil atmosphere will immerse you in a state of pure relaxation in the paradise beach of San Diego on Coronado Island.
After a day of playing in the sand and splashing in the sea, you’ll be happy to sit on the beautiful Sun Deck or at one of the resort’s fantastic restaurants.
Unwinding with an elegant craft cocktail is the perfect way to end your classic beach vacation day.
During the holiday season, be sure to take part in the incredible annual Skate by the Sea event!
In this one-of-a-kind experience, you can skate on an outdoor rink right by the ocean! Go there at night for a truly spectacular view that you will never forget.
When you take a trip to Hotel del Coronado, you might feel the benevolent spirit of Kate Morgan in the resort, from the unexplained interior breezes to the perfect rainbow framing the hotel.
