At the start of 2020, Cameron Phillips was working as Chief Revenue Officer at Accor and was looking forward to another successful Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne when everything came to an abrupt halt.
Like many Australians, Mr Phillips, after 14 successful years in the industry, found himself facing a mainstream industry as the pandemic took hold and government restrictions nearly shut down the travel industry almost overnight.
Responding to a call for help in the health sector, Mr. Phillips answered the call for what he and everyone else expected to be a short-term deployment to help the public health response to COVID before returning to the travel and hospitality industry where he had spent the better part of 15 years around the world.
Within weeks, Mr Phillips was coordinating clinical teams managing a large number of positive COVID cases in Australia.
“It was a baptism of fire. From day one, I had to adapt to a completely new industry in an environment that no one had ever experienced,” Mr Phillips said.
When asked what the first few days were like, Mr Phillips said: ‘I quickly realized that healthcare service delivery was not that different in approach to hospitality. It was about finding the right solution for patients who had a wide range of needs, where a one-size-fits-all mindset wouldn’t work.
“At hotels, we were always looking for better ways to personalize our service delivery, and that was my approach to our health programs at OSD.Care.”
OSD.Care, under the leadership of Chief Operating Officer Mr Phillips, along with a clinical oversight and delivery team, has grown into a major healthcare service provider for a wide range of agencies across Victoria and NSW providing COVID services.
“As we began to enter the new COVID normal, OSD.Care began to look at ways for travelers to quickly access healthcare when traveling through Australia,” Mr Phillips said.
“What became clear was that the public health system, from general practice to hospitals, would continue to feel the pressure that COVID had placed on the various health networks.”

HotelCare.Health was started with the goal of connecting patients with doctors as soon as possible and providing the medications they might need without having to pick up a paper script or go to the pharmacy.
HotelCare.Health is embracing the digital health revolution by providing access to on-demand telehealth doctors seven days a week. Priority telehealth appointments ensure that a doctor will be available when a patient needs them most .
As part of the solution, HotelCare.Health also solved the problem of what to do when a guest runs out of medicine or inadvertently leaves it at home. HotelCare.Health offers simple and easy prescription refills. Customers simply fill out an application and a physician will assess the application and, if appropriate, issue a prescription within hours.
Prescriptions can be dropped off directly at a local pharmacy, or HotelCare.Health can arrange delivery directly to the hotel with secure packaging and real-time delivery tracking.
