I tried Dayuse.com to book a hotel, here’s how it went

Dayuse.com is an app designed for travelers who need a hotel room for a few hours, not overnight. As a travel writer, I constantly fly to different destinations. There are cases where I have to leave my accommodation a few hours before my scheduled flight. Or I could arrange a long layover to explore a new city before boarding my plane. The option to use Dayuse becomes a perfect solution. By downloading the app and filling out a simple profile, you will be able to see if there are any hotels in the city of your choice offering mini-stays of a few hours. Hotel amenities are included in many of these locations and may consist of pools, beach access, spas, gyms, and more. Dayuse customers are hotel customers; the difference is that you only borrow the room for a short time. This is a great idea for hotel chains and Dayuse customers. Hotels fill empty rooms and offer a relaxing respite to weary travelers.

My reasons for a mini stay

In January, I visited Sarasota, Florida to escape the snow and cold in the northeast. I rented an Airbnb for the month. Although it was a nice property, it was not located close to busy downtown Sarasota. I also didn’t have access to a pool or gym. I was interested in exercising, swimming, and shopping in the fantastic shops of downtown Sarasota.

I checked local stays on Dayuse

I looked on the Dayuse app and selected a few filters to identify what I was looking for. Filters included desired location, time period, and price limit. I discovered a four star hotel offering an afternoon stay where I wanted to spend the day. I chose the Sarasota Modern for the amenities, location, and meeting my friend to take advantage of the restaurant and lobby bar for drinks and early dinner.

An experience in the heart of downtown Sarasota

I called a ride-sharing service and jumped in front of the Sarasota Modern. After dropping my bag in my room, I checked in and went straight to the gym. The gym had state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment including treadmills and steppers. I also used the free weights for a full body workout.

Then I went to my room to change into my bathing suit. It started to rain when I was at the gym, but luckily the rain stopped when I slipped into the heated pool. I was disappointed that there was no sun to entice me to linger on the lounge chairs. I did laps and enjoyed the water, but it started to rain again, so I jumped.

Back in my room, I showered and treated myself to all the luxuries provided by the hotel, such as shampoo, shower gel and lotion prepared with precision for the Sarasota Modern. I got dressed up and walked downtown to shop at some of the trendy shops on Main Street.

Went back to meet my girlfriend in time for happy hour at the bar. The happy hour was great and we enjoyed glasses of amazing premium wine for half the price. We decided to share a small plate and I ordered a delicious Chicken Caesar Salad from the late afternoon menu. We would have enjoyed our drinks outside if the weather had cooperated, but they brought the pool bar menu inside due to the rain.

We relaxed on the comfortable beds

After dinner we went back to my room to relax and catch up. We each lay down on our queen beds and streamed a show we both love on Netflix. Unfortunately, my stay at the hotel ended and it was time to leave.

Dayuse gave me a nice change of pace

I loved being able to rent a deluxe room for the afternoon. I appreciated the opportunity to train in the gym. Still, I was disappointed that the weather didn’t cooperate for my day at the pool. I chose not to use the free bikes and rode around town instead. I had considered relaxing by the pool in the sun, but mother nature had other plans. If I had been invited a few more days I might have had time to use more amenities like the spa, but I booked the room for eight hours and ran out of time.

There were surprises – both good and difficult

I was surprised by the wonderful accommodations, the fluffy bathrobe, the towels and the products. I was also surprised to feel the need to use my time wisely and fit in as much as possible, which didn’t feel as relaxing as I had hoped. I liked being so close to downtown and had fun meeting my friend in the trendy lobby bar. I found the mid-afternoon menu offered delicious food options – and half-price drinks at happy hour. It was a pleasant surprise for my friend and I as we spent less on drinks and food than expected.

Tips for using Dayuse.com

I knew what I wanted from my afternoon stay. Be sure to use the filter option in the app to choose the type of hotel and read the description of the amenities you can use as a short-term guest. Many hotels have reasonable rates (depending on city and location). I chose a four star hotel with a pool and gym, so the price was higher, but you don’t have to spend a lot of money to use the hotels on Dayuse.

I would use Dayuse in the future when traveling, selecting a property close to the airport. I would appreciate having a room to work or relax instead of camping at the airport for hours. Also check out the amenities you would like to use and choose the ones that matter most to you. Remember that you may not be able to use them all. I felt compelled to use as many as possible, which made me look at the clock.

Finally, check the weather if you want to use the outdoor offers. I wish I had chosen a different day to use the outdoor pool so I could take advantage of the lounge chairs. Next time I will make sure to do this before booking a mini vacation with Dayuse. Overall, I had a great time using this unique service.
