PHUKET: Outrigger Hospitality Group has announced its management team that will open three hotels in southern Thailand this peak season.
Tony Pedroni, has been appointed Zone General Manager, Thailand. He will be supported by Sergey Kutuzov, Regional Sales and Marketing Manager, Thailand, and Leah Matters, General Manager, Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort.
They will be assisted by a dozen other managers, soon to be announced, many of whom have domain responsibilities in the areas of finance, security, HR, engineering and purchasing. The nominations come as Outrigger establishes its presence in three of Asia’s most sought-after beaches.
Outrigger Khao Lak Beach Resort and Outrigger Surin Beach Resort in Phuket are scheduled to open on December 15. The Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort is expected to open on Lamai Beach before Easter 2022.
An Irish national with over 30 years of professional experience, Tony Pedroni has had a career in seven countries and three continents, primarily with Marriott International and Outrigger Hospitality Group. Mr. Pedroni graduated from the Swiss Hotel Management School HOSTA in Leysin, Switzerland.
Sergey Kutuzov’s hospitality career spans nine years in Thailand with MINOR, Accor and Dusit and six years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with Starwood and Accor. Mr. Kutuzov’s career began in his hometown of St. Petersburg, Russia, at the Kempinski Grand Hotel Europe.
Mr. Kutuzov holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from St. Petersburg State University and also graduated from a business school.
Leah Matters has held leadership roles at Outrigger in Australia and Thailand since 2008, most notably as General Manager of Outrigger Twin Towns Resort, then Manager of the former Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort, 2015-21. Ms. Matters is particularly strong on the implementation of the customer satisfaction policy and social media engagement at the resort.
“Our new team is a dynamic mix of experience and enthusiasm,” said Damian Clowes, Regional Managing Director, Asia Pacific, for Outrigger Hospitality Group. “We aim to restore Outrigger to one of Thailand’s best resorts for families and couples.”
Mr. Pedroni added that Outrigger has a history of above average customer satisfaction levels among its competitors. This was demonstrated by the inclusion of the previous Outrigger in Phuket in the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame for Excellence and other travel industry awards.
“Customer experience and satisfaction will once again be key deliverables in our new properties,” said Mr. Pedroni.
Outrigger will soon announce dining concepts and room type options for its properties in Khao Lak and Phuket ahead of their scheduled opening on December 15.
