The partnership will identify and convert opportunities and grow a network of 150 Park Inn & Suites by Radisson hotels over 10 years, including franchise hotels. Ramzy Fenianos, Development Director, Asia Pacific, Radisson, said: “Covid has been a slow time for the industry and during this time we have been looking at how we can grow. We looked at India, which is one of our biggest strategic markets. This is part of our five-year plan in India and the country is an incubator for this brand. The brand will provide midscale hotels in India with an opportunity to enhance their visibility.”

In a statement, Sidharth Gupta, Founder and Director of Ruptub Solutions said, “We have been incubating this brand for a year and a half. This capitalizes on a space in the market between the economy and economy premium segments and very few brands operate in this space. We collectively aim to leverage the hotel expertise of the group combined with our technology offerings. The coming years will be a game-changer for the Indian hospitality industry.”

In India, Radisson Hotel Group operates brands such as Park Inn, Radisson Blu, Country Inn & Suites as well as its flagship upscale Radisson brand. It is the third-largest hotel service provider in India, according to hotel consultancy Hotelivate, after US chain Marriott Hotels and Indian Hotel Company Limited. In 2018, its parent company, Carlson Rezidor, renamed itself Radisson Hotel Group.

Radisson said the brand will fuel its next phase of growth in Tier 2, 3, 4 and 5 markets like Shillong, Itanagar, Kohima, Gorakhpur, Dimapur, Moradabad, Etawah among others. He expects nearly 50% of future hotel conversions to come from these cities. It said it has around 110 hotels in operation and around 40 under development at 60 sites. Currently, it holds about 50% of its portfolio in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets.

Zubin Saxena, Group Managing Director and Vice President Operations, South Asia, added: “These hotels are suitable for mixed-use developments, which subsidizes the cost of building a developer and 50-70 rooms are the good size for these cities. We have dedicated all our efforts to developing an indigenous brand architecture that will unlock economies of scale. This partnership is a crucial step towards our brand building journey and responds to the growing demand of the discerning Indian traveler for high quality accommodation. »

Hotelivate’s Trends and Opportunities Report 2022 states that it is the third largest brand by the number of cities it operates in and has a presence in 63 locations in India. It is the only international hotel operator to be present in so many cities preceded only by Taj Hotels belonging to Indian Hotels which is present in 77 cities as well as ITC Hotels which is present in 71.
