TGI Hotels started their journey from a 20-room hotel in Yelagiri, a hill station in Tamil Nadu’s Tirupattur district in 2014. However, the recovery period was rapid after the first lockdown was lifted. In two months, TGI has reached 70% of pre-Covid levels. Rooms and public areas are disinfected in accordance with the Covid-19 protocol, and hotel housekeeping has been given special attention to ensure guests have safe accommodation. “
According to Roy and Kumar, the hospitality industry will be the most active and one of the most income-generating companies after the end of the pandemic. The duo say they used this time for renovations, new business plans, and new investments for upcoming businesses before the industry opened up. “Even after the second lockdown was lifted, we were able to see the industry rebound at twice the speed of the previous time. People have started traveling and will need a major break from the monotony of staying indoors, ”Roy said.
Sharing their future goals, Kumar said, “We had set a goal of managing 2,020 rooms in 2020, and we were gradually and aggressively moving towards the same. However, this pandemic brought a temporary end to it and gave us the much-needed time to correct ourselves and properly align. We are much stronger and focused now and the story of the growth will continue. Our dream is to have TGI hotels every three to four hour drive across India. After strengthening our presence in North, Central and South India, we will venture into East and West India.
