The University of Punjab will be part of the Cambridge program | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: The University of Punjab will collaborate on the TIGR2ESS project, with a team of 15 faculty members in several departments led by Professor Ramanjit Kaur Johal.
The departments include public administration, economics, university business school, university institute of applied management, university institute of fashion technology and professional development, university institute of hotel management and l school of communication studies.
TIGR2ESS is a research program led by the University of Cambridge with over 20 organizations and over 30 early career researchers working to find sustainable ways for Indian agriculture through engagement with rural communities, l empowerment of women and policy translation.
Their research identifies practical solutions to address issues such as depleted groundwater, reduced crop resilience, inadequate nutrition, and limited market opportunities for smallholder farmers.
Professor Johal said: “There are a dozen early career researchers on the project and we are engaging in participatory action research in rural Punjab for the empowerment of youth and women through community development. skills and entrepreneurship as well as empowerment through nutrition awareness and practices. This project will run until March 2022. A significant research capacity has been developed at PU through this project, ”she said.
