The Travelodge hotel chain has revealed some of the questions posed to its staff over the past 12 months.

Hope some of them were just kidding ….

To begin with, a guest asked if the Golden Mile, the stretch of the A607 through Belgrave, was paved with real gold.

Another person, probably not a football fan, asked where Leicester Zoo is because he wanted to take his son to see the Leicester Tigers.

A visitor to the city wanted to know if the National Space Center offers space travel.

So if you could laugh, take a look at these 10 weirdest requests made to staff at the company’s hotels in the Leicester area over the past year:

Travelodge spokesperson Shakila Ahmed said: “Following the lifting of all Covid-19 restrictions earlier this year, we have seen a significant increase in bookings at our 582 Travelodge hotels in the UK, including our three hotels in Leicester.

“With more Britons vacationing on the UK shores than ever before, our hotel teams have also received a high volume of interesting inquiries and questions, especially regarding place names, local dishes, customs and traditions of the regions British.

“Where possible, our hotel teams will do everything possible to help guests as they relish a good challenge.

“However, there are certain requests beyond their control, such as the Leicester Hinckley Road Travelodge hotel teams being asked to ‘turn off the street lights'”.
