Woman sentenced to life in fatal Decatur hotel room shooting

Aushun Lavoris Price, 35, was taken into custody without incident today on Metropolitan Avenue in Atlanta on a warrant charging him with malicious murder.

A jury has found a 37-year-old woman guilty of a fatal shooting in a DeKalb County hotel room.

DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston said Aushun Price shot dead Frank Hosey, 40, on June 19, 2021, at an Econo Lodge hotel in Decatur. She was convicted of malicious murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of firearms.

Prosecutors said security video shows Price allegedly used a ride-sharing service to get to the hotel. She reportedly went to the room where Hosey and a woman watched a game.

She started acting “erratic” and was asked to leave. Cameras saw her leaving in an “aggravated manner” before returning 20 minutes later.

Prosecutors said she knocked on the door and shot Hosey as he sat in a chair. The woman, whose name has been registered with the hotel, witnessed the shooting.

Hosey died of his injuries two days later.

Prosecutors said surveillance video caught her fleeing with a handgun in her right hand.

Price was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole immediately after the trial, but Judge LaTisha Dear Jackson.
